The objectives of the Kurdistan Regional Government Mission in Australia are:

1

Building good relations between the KRG-Iraq and the Australian Government.

2

Organizing relations and bringing together Kurdish companies and Australian companies in the fields of manufacturing, trade, agriculture, tourism and other industries. The Kurdistan Region is a place where the tax system is free.

3

Coordinate relations between Kurdistan and Australian universities as well as in other fields of education, health, science and arts.

4

Organize and facilitate services to the Iraqi Kurdish community in Australia and their families in Kurdistan.

In the political field, the following places will take the initiative:
1

Building a democratic federal Iraq based on geographical regions (with the Iraqi people wanting to learn about the different federal systems).

2

The right to political and social justice for the people of Kirkuk – for those displaced by the Ba'athist Iraqi policy of cleansing minorities.

3

Managing and implementing statistics and censuses in order to build on the demographic needs of the Iraqi people.

In the field of economic development:

Iraqi Kurds are keen to develop industrial and infrastructure ties with Australian companies, and in 2001 a proposal was made by Kurdish representatives in Australia and Australian government officials to establish industrial and infrastructure ties with Australian companies Australia should send a delegation to Iraqi Kurdistan to establish a framework for joint projects. Since 2003, when Jalal Talabani visited Australia, there have been further proposals for Australia to open an Austrade office in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Now that Austrade has a representation in Baghdad, we want to work with Austrade and other teams to enable the KRG to negotiate directly on:

1

Construction of roads, bridges and other infrastructure, including facilities to serve Erbil International Airport.
2

Electricity supply, including hydroelectric systems at the mini and macro levels.
3

Promote international banking facilities.

4

Promote telephone announcements.
5

Water and land management systems and conservation technologies.
6

Construction of hospitals and providing them with necessary equipment.
7

Reforestation of mixed forests for diversity use.
8

Agricultural industries eg food processing projects.
9

Your lawn.
10

11

Developing suitable crops for planting in dryland and semi-irrigated systems.
12
