Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) – Today, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani chaired a session of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Council of Ministers, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani.

At the outset of the meeting, the Council of Ministers strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks on the Kurdistan Region, particularly those targeting oil fields, which have caused significant damage to oil production. The Council emphasised that these attacks aim to undermine the Kurdistan Region’s economic and energy infrastructure. It urged the federal government to fulfil its responsibilities by preventing further attacks and pursuing legal action against the perpetrators.

The Council then turned to the main agenda item: the Kurdistan Region’s financial situation and the ongoing negotiations with the federal government over salaries and financial entitlements.

Prime Minister Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Talabani briefed the Council on the joint understanding reached with Baghdad the previous day regarding the Kurdistan Region’s financial obligations and commitments.

After thorough deliberation, the Council endorsed the agreement and pledged to implement its provisions. In turn, the federal government is expected to honour its commitments concerning the salaries and financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region.
